Missile alert issued in Dubai

Dubai: Residents in Dubai received an emergency alert on Tuesday after the UAE's air defence systems detected a missile threat directed towards the country.

The UAE Ministry of Defence said in a post on X that its air defence systems had detected the threat and urged residents to follow warnings and updates issued through official channels. A public emergency alert was also sent to residents in Dubai.

“UAE Air Defence Systems have detected a missile threat directed towards the country. Kindly follow warnings and updates issued through official channels,” the ministry said.

The ministry also clarified that sounds heard in different areas were due to air defence interceptions. It said the UAE's defence systems remained fully prepared to respond to any threat and protect the country's sovereignty, security and stability.

The alert came amid continuing military tensions in West Asia involving the US and Iran. The UAE has faced previous missile and drone threats during the conflict, with its authorities repeatedly urging residents to remain calm and follow official safety instructions.

Shortly after the initial alert, residents received another notification stating that the threat had passed and that they could resume their normal activities.
