Sahebaan professionals in Dubai back demand for Karnataka High Court bench in Mangaluru

Dubai: Members of Sahebaan, a network of professionals from Karnataka’s coastal districts working in Dubai, have extended their support to the demand for establishing a Karnataka High Court bench in Mangaluru to improve access to justice for people in the coastal and Malnad regions.
The appeal was made during the SPAEN (Sahebaan Professionals & Business Networking) event organised by Sahebaan at Hotel Khalidia Palace, Deira, Dubai. The gathering discussed the need for a High Court bench in Mangaluru and its potential benefits for residents of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Kodagu, Shivamogga and Chikkamagaluru districts.
Advocate K.P.A. Shukoor, along with Advocate Mohammed Shamil Shukoor and other participants, highlighted the importance of making justice more accessible and affordable to people living in these regions.
The participants stressed that establishing a bench in Mangaluru would help bring judicial services closer to the people and reduce the difficulties faced by litigants seeking legal remedies.
The meeting also extended support to the action committee formed to pursue the demand. Participants expressed their willingness to stand behind Ivan D’Souza, Monappa Bhandary and other committee members working towards the establishment of the bench.
The appeal was supported by Afroz Assadi, Althaf Ahmed, Althaf Khalife, Dr Waleed N. Ahmed, Sameer Geepee, Samiulla Habibi, B.M. Zaffer, Asif Hussain, Mohsin Sheik, Syed Gafoor, Sannan Siddique, Ajmal Ahmed, CA Shabbir, CA Hanif and Mushtaq Ahmed, among others.
Advocate Shukoor emphasised that access to justice should not be limited by geographical distance or financial constraints. He said the objective should be to ensure that justice reaches citizens at their doorstep and remains affordable and accessible to all.
The participants noted that improving access to justice was consistent with the broader objective of government policies and called for sustained efforts to advance the demand for a High Court bench in Mangaluru.
The gathering concluded with a commitment to support the action committee’s efforts to take the demand forward, with the stated aim of making judicial services more accessible to people across coastal and Malnad Karnataka.
