15-year-old Plus One student drowns in pond in Kasaragod

Kasaragod: A Plus One student drowned while bathing in a pond at Udayagiri in Kasaragod on Monday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Muhammed Sahil (15), son of Abubakar, a resident of Udayagiri and originally from Chala, Vidyanagar. He was a Plus One student at Thanbeehul Islam Higher Secondary School, Naimarmoola.

Shahil had gone to the pond near his house to bathe before going to school. Police said he slipped into the deeper part of the pond and drowned.

When Shahil did not return, his family members and local residents started searching for him. He was later found in the pond and taken to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

Police have registered a case and are investigating.
