Mangaluru: A broker has been arrested and two police constables have been suspended in connection with alleged irregularities in the police verification process for labourers seeking employment within the limits of the Bajpe Police Station, according to Deccan Herald.
Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy CH said the investigation found that the broker had managed to obtain police verification certificates for some labourers with the involvement of the constables, without carrying out the mandatory field verification and without the signature of the concerned police inspector.
Based on the findings, a case was registered against the broker, who was later arrested. The two constables allegedly involved in the process have been suspended pending further inquiry, the commissioner said.
Preliminary investigation has revealed that the labourers concerned were economically disadvantaged individuals searching for employment and that the broker had allegedly misused the verification process with the cooperation of the suspended constables.
Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy said the investigation is continuing and further details are awaited.
