Case registered against Govinda Naik for alleged misconduct with police

Bhatkal: Police have registered a case against Senior BJP leader Govind Naik for allegedly misbehaving with police personnel and using abusive language during a protest outside the Bhatkal Town Police Station.
According to police, the incident took place on Wednesday night when Govind Naik allegedly spoke in an offensive and threatening manner to police officers on duty during the protest. Action was reportedly taken after a video of the incident went viral on social media.
Earlier he is also seen threatening police department and the people of Bhatkal of repeating 1993 riots and along with him MLA Sunil Naik also seen giving inflammatory statements standing beside him.
Police are also examining allegations that some speeches and slogans raised during the protest were intended to provoke people and escalate tensions.
A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway, police said.
