Former Udupi Waqf committee vice-president urges Minister Khader to resolve administrative delays

Udupi: M.P. Moidinabba, former vice-president of the Udupi District Waqf Advisory Committee, has urged Waqf Minister U.T. Khader to intervene and resolve long-pending administrative issues affecting registered Waqf institutions under the Karnataka Waqf Board.

In a memorandum submitted to the minister, Moidinabba alleged that proposals seeking approval for the formation of committees for mosques and dargahs in the district, either through direct appointments or elections, had remained pending at the board’s head office for years.

He said delays in approving the bylaws of several Waqf institutions had also created difficulties in their functioning.

Moidinabba further alleged that even after grants were sanctioned, proposals seeking the release of funds remained pending at the head office for years, affecting the institutions concerned.

He also pointed out that the post of Waqf officer in Udupi district had remained vacant for years. The absence of a full-time officer, he said, was adding to the difficulties faced by Waqf institutions in the district.
