Karnataka: Man kills wife, ends life over domestic dispute

Mangaluru (Karnataka) (PTI): A man allegedly killed his wife and then died by suicide on Saturday following a tussle over domestic dispute at a rented house in Dakshina Kannada district, police said.

The incident occurred at Kaje in Alankaru village of Kadaba taluk, they said.

The deceased have been identified as Dinesh and his wife Sangeetha. The couple was living in the rented house along with their child, police said.

According to police, the incident came to light this morning when Sangeetha's maternal family called her and received no response.

Sumalatha, a relative and resident of Alankaru, along with her husband and others, went to the house and found the door locked from the inside.

Upon breaking open the door, they found Dinesh hanging from the ceiling and Sangeetha lying in a pool of blood.

Preliminary investigation suggests that Dinesh killed his wife following a domestic dispute and later died by suicide, a senior police officer said.

Kadaba Police have registered a case under Section 103(1) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita against Dinesh for the murder of his wife. A separate Unnatural Death Report has been registered regarding Dinesh's suicide.
