Private firm employee robbed of Rs 8 lakh at knifepoint near Bantwal

Bantwal: A 40-year-old employee of a cement and iron trading firm was allegedly robbed of around Rs 8 lakh at knifepoint by a four-member gang at Mulkaje Mada in Maninalkur village near Bantwal on Thursday afternoon.
The victim has been identified as Mayyadi. According to reports, he had collected money from various shops as part of his company’s business and was travelling from Kakkepadu towards Bantwal.
When he reached an isolated stretch at Mulkaje Mada, four men travelling on two motorcycles allegedly intercepted him. The gang reportedly threatened him with machetes and fled with the cash.
A case has been registered at the Bantwal Rural Police Station.
Inspector Anantha Padmanabha and Station Officer Manjunath, along with other police personnel, visited the spot and conducted an inspection. Police are investigating the incident and efforts are underway to identify the accused.
