Twin brothers drown in pond while playing near home in Sullia

Sullia: Two five-year-old twin brothers died after accidentally falling into a pond near their house in Kadira village of Murulya in Sullia taluk on Saturday evening.

The deceased have been identified as Yashwin and Jaswith, sons of Vasanth and Divya.

According to reports, the children had returned home from school and were playing near their house when they accidentally fell into a pond located nearby. The pond is said to be around 15 feet deep.

The twins were studying in UKG at Murulya Shantinagar Primary School.

At the time of the incident, their father, Vasanth, was at work, while their mother, Divya, had gone out for daily wage work. The children were reportedly under the care of their grandparents.

After receiving information about the incident, personnel from the Sullia Fire and Rescue Department rushed to the spot and retrieved the children from the pond.

However, the twins could not be saved.

Police from Bellare Police Station visited the scene, conducted an inspection and registered a case.
