Four hectares of forest area set on fire in Chamarajanagar amid tension over shootout

Chamarajanagar: Around four hectares of forest area near Shilabepura on the outskirts of Jageri in Chamarajanagar district were reportedly set on fire on Wednesday night, days after an anti-poaching camp in the area was destroyed.
The incident comes amid tension following the death of three men in a shootout involving Forest Department personnel in Mariamangala near Shagya village, within the Cauvery Wildlife Sanctuary, on Saturday, August 15.
According to reports, the forest area near Shilabepura was allegedly set on fire by local residents who were angered by the shootout.
