Koppa: Samyukta Muslim Jamaath protests over Form 7 objections against 218 Muslim, 25 Christian voters

Koppa: Hundreds of affected voters staged a protest in front of the taluk office in Koppa on Wednesday under the leadership of the Samyukta Muslim Jamaath, demanding an impartial inquiry into the 243 Form 7 objections filed during SIR-2026 and protection of the voting rights of eligible voters. They later submitted a memorandum to the tahsildar.

Speaking during the protest, Jamaath leaders said Form 7 objections had been filed during the SIR-2026 process seeking deletion of the names of 243 voters from the electoral roll. Of these, 218 are Muslim voters and 25 are Christian voters.

They said the election authorities should thoroughly examine the objections as they had been filed against a large number of voters on similar grounds.

The leaders said no eligible voter’s name should be removed from the electoral roll based only on a Form 7 application. They said every voter should be served a notice and given an opportunity to prove their residence and eligibility.

They demanded that the authenticity of each Form 7 application be verified through documents and field verification, without political pressure or influence.

They also demanded action under Section 31 and other applicable laws if anyone was found to have deliberately tried to remove eligible voters from the electoral roll by providing false information. They demanded action under Section 31 if any official was found to have failed to perform their official duty while processing or verifying the applications.

They urged the Election Department to verify all 243 Form 7 cases and ensure that the names of eligible voters were not wrongly removed.

Jamaath president Shafi Ahmed, secretary Ismail Jayapura, treasurer Kamaliya, joint secretary Barkath Ali and members Naushad, Ismail B R M, Jahoor Hussain, Muhammad Sadiq Abdul Hameed, Narve Sharief, Mansoor H H P, Irfan, Sharief Kudregundi, Asif H H P, Abdul Haq, Adil Saab Koppa, Hafeez Koppa, Ismail Sultan, Muhammad Jogisar, Shabbir Ahmed and Muhammad Badriya Abdul Hameed led the protest.Speaking during the protest, Jamaath leaders said Form 7 objections had been filed during the SIR-2026 process seeking deletion of the names of 243 voters from the electoral roll.
