Dubai: Iran has conveyed its conditions for resuming negotiations with the United States through Qatari mediators, as Saudi Arabia said its forces intercepted a ballistic missile headed towards Riyadh and thwarted other attacks.
Iran's top security official Mohsen Rezaei told Al Jazeera that Tehran had communicated its demands to Washington through Qatar. The conditions include an end to the war on all fronts, the release of Iranian assets frozen abroad and the lifting of a US naval blockade on Iranian ports.
The move comes as diplomatic efforts remain focused on finding a possible route back to negotiations between Tehran and Washington after earlier talks broke down, as reported by AL Jazeera.
Meanwhile, a Saudi-led coalition fighting Yemen's Houthi rebels said it intercepted a ballistic missile targeting Riyadh. It also reported foiling attacks directed at Bish, Taif, Farasan and Yanbu.
The United States has meanwhile advised its citizens in nine Middle Eastern countries to exercise caution, warning that the hostilities between Saudi Arabia and the Houthis could "escalate rapidly".
